For each episode of Into The Wild you are joined by a different famous face. Former Labour Party communications director Alastair Campbell is on one trip. Were you intimidated by him? I THINK you'd be a fool not to be! I probably wouldn't have admitted it to anyone at the time because he's obviously a very dominant figure.

I was just really hoping that we'd get along, but actually, by lunchtime we hit our stride and we were getting on like a house on fire.

He's a very funny man. I did want to find out if there was another side to Alastair and there definitely is; he's a very, incredibly sensitive man, very open and great company.

I suppose the biggest surprise of all was that he's a very gentle man.

The series celebrates British wildlife. Do you think more of us need to explore the great outdoors? YES. I feel really passionate about people getting out into the countryside because it's wonderful.

It's slightly depressing that you can go out and you don't see more people, especially with kids.

We're really lucky in the UK, we've got such lovely places and lots of nature reserves and national parks. But I think more people should go and enjoy them because then, the better chances we have of actually protecting nature.

In the series, we caught some amazing encounters, not just impressive British wildlife, but really impressive global wildlife.

Gordon and Dermot O'Leary Into The Wild Britain has some of the most accessible offcamera thoroughly wildlife there is. It is literally on our doorstep in many cases.

You've been in some scary situations in your career. Does your family worry about you? I DON'T have any kind of death wish and I don't want to get hurt.

I suppose what comes across as being dodgy or risky to most people isn't really for me because it's just what I've been doing for 25 years.

My family don't worry quite so much now, but my wife always says before I go off, 'Don't do anything silly'. I stopped doing silly things a long time ago.

When I was younger, I definitely took risks and I did things that were dangerous, really I did, and that's an amateur's lack of experience and, I suppose, lack of sense of your own mortality. …
