18,600 Private-Sector Jobs Added in Florida in March

Florida added 18,600 private-sector jobs in March, a fairly strong performance but down about 8 percent from February.

Dominating the jobs added in March was the trade, transportation and utilities sector -- with 4,400 -- and construction, which added 2,600, according to reports on Wednesday from human resources firm and payroll processor ADP and economists at Moody's Analytics Inc.

Service-producing jobs accounted for 16,000 of the new positions in the Sunshine State, while goods-producing work accounted for 2,600.

Professional and business services increased by 1,800 jobs, while manufacturing had 100 new positions.

Florida had added 20,200 private-sector jobs in February, a 13 percent jump from the previous month's 17,900. The recent peak for Florida came in December, with 23,800 positions. …
