Chippy Loved by United Fans Gets ZERO Hygiene Rating

A LANDMARK chippy near Old Trafford has been handed a ZERO food hygiene rating after inspectors found a dead mouse and droppings inside.

Council inspectors ordered The Red Devils takeaway, which is used by hundreds of United fans on matchdays, to make 'urgent improvements' over the filthy conditions. After the Food Standards Agency handed the chip shop, on Chester Road close to the junction with Sir Matt Busby Way, a zero food hygiene rating on its website, the M.E.N. used Freedom of Information legislation to obtain the council inspector's report which led to the rating.

It's believed the takeaway has not been trading for the last few weeks, but the FSA report will still make for shocking reading for supporters who have used the popular chippy.

The inspector concludes 'urgent improvements required', noting that a dead mouse was found in an electronic fly-killer.

Also uncovered were 'droppings under work-surfaces throughout', according to the report.

Inspectors observed 'potential entry points by the rear door' and urged the owner to bring in a contractor to clean the premises. …
