K-State Lands Bama Transfer ; Cat Guard Has Two Years of Eligibility

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State women's basketball coach Jeff Mittie on Monday added experience to the backcourt for next season, announcing the addition of graduate transfer Karyla Middlebrook from Alabama.

Middlebrook is a 5-foot-7 guard from Blue Springs, Mo., who started 70 of 72 career games at Alabama. This past season she averaged 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and a team-high 2.7 assists for the Crimson Tide, ranking No. 9 in the SEC in free-throw shooting (75 percent) and No. 11 in steals (1.7 a game). She will have two years of eligibility at K-State.

"She is a terrific student-athlete that possesses the skills, experience and leadership qualities that we were looking for," Mittie said. "This 2016 recruiting class has been recognized nationally and it gets even stronger with the addition of an outstanding player like Karyla. …
