Fort Lee Delays Bids for Parking Garage

FORT LEE -- The Parking Authority has retracted bid documents for the Guntzer Street parking garage project, citing a need to revise the design of the structure before going out to bid again.

Bids for the precast concrete garage contract were originally scheduled to be received, publicly opened and read on March 31.

The authority decided to pull the bid documents to make sure all of the agency's commissioners were "on the same page," said Chris Gray, director of operations for Tim Haahs, the design firm working as a consultant on the project.

"We're going through some potential scope modifications," Gray said. "There's so much that's potentially in flux right now."

The original plans called for a four-story deck on the site of the current Guntzer Street municipal parking lot, with 653 spaces inside the structure and 166 in the surrounding lot. …
