Man Arrested in Vehicle Burglary Wednesday Just East of Topeka City Limits

Acting on a tip from a resident, Shawnee County sheriff's deputies early Wednesday tracked down and arrested a man believed to have been in possession of stolen property.

Shawnee County sheriff's Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer said the arrest began to unfold about 5:50 a.m., when 911 dispatchers received a call from a citizen reporting a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of S.E. Howard and Connie Drive, about a half-mile east of the 2500 block of S.E. Croco Road.

When deputies arrived, Stallbaumer said, a man fled on foot. Deputies located the man and took him into custody.

Stallbaumer identified the man as Michael J. Reed, 29, of Topeka.

Stallbaumer said Reed was driving a green, four-door 1998 Chrysler that contained several items that appeared to be stolen. …
