Fire Crew Called to 'Ghost' Sighting

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house after the occupant reported 'seeing a ghost'.

The incident happened in Whalley Range,n Manchester.

When crews attended - as part of a new scheme where fire crews can respond to incidents which previously may have gone to police - the woman occupier told them she had seen her daughter in the house even though 'I haven't seen her for 10 years'.

The woman was given reassurance at the scene and the firefighters left.

As part of a pilot scheme, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is now attending some 'concern for welfare' reports to help out stretched police colleagues.

Fire stations in Wythenshawe, Salford and Wigan are involved in the scheme.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "It's just a case of going round and making sure people are OK. It might be a neighbour they haven't seen for a while. …
