WAYNE -- A 24-year-old Wanaque man accused of beating a 30-year- old township man inside a hotel room with a baseball bat and stealing his money and jewelry on Saturday was arrested Wednesday.

Lynn M. McClendon is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and weapons possession offenses, Detective Capt. Laurence W. Martin said in a statement. He was taken to the Passaic County Jail on $150,000 bail.

Officers Brian Bradford and Bob Franciose were called to the Wayne Motor Inn around 4:45 p.m. Saturday on a report of an assault, Martin said. They found the 30-year-old man suffering from a head wound and the hotel room's walls splattered with blood, as well as blood pooling on the floor of the bedroom and bathroom. He was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

The man and his roommate had arranged to meet with five people at the hotel, the captain said. …
