ASHTON UNITED could seal a place in the Evo-Stik Premier play- offs for a third straight year this afternoon.

Sixth-placed Workington lost at Nantwich in midweek, meaning thirdplaced SALFORD CITY are assured of a place in the play-offs.

Fourth-placed Ashton host Workington today and are four points ahead of the Cumbrians, who have three games left, so the Robins will join Salford in the end-of-season shoot-out if they win at Hurst Cross.

While Workington lost in midweek, Ashton won 2-0 at Rushall Olympic to get back on track having taken just one point from their previous three games.

Salford, meanwhile, are aiming for back-to-back promotions after winning the Evo-Stik North title last term.

The Ammies host ninth-placed Nantwich looking to continue their positive end to the season having gone seven unbeaten, conceding just one goal in the process. …
