Washburn Musicians to Perform Sunday

Six of Washburn University's best student musicians will take a turn in the spotlight Sunday afternoon when the music department presents its annual honors concert.

The spring semester rite of passage, which will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in White Concert Hall, requires participants to audition for the music faculty, which selects those deemed worthy of the accolade. The six performers at the concert will be:

- Clare Bryan, a soprano, who accompanied by pianist Kathleen Rich will sing "Clair's Aria" from "Clare de Lune," a two-act chamber orchestra with music by Libby Larson and libretto by Patricia Hampl. Bryan also will sing "Ah fors'e lui" and "Sempre libre," two of Violetta's arias in Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La Traviata."

- Colleen Dilmore will perform Swiss-born American composer Ernest Bloch's "Suite Modale for Flute and Piano," assisted by pianist Patricia Gibson. …
