Woodland Park Adds Revenue, Lowers Tax Increase to $68

WOODLAND PARK -- Residents will see a $68.24 increase in the municipal portion of their tax bills for 2016 on a home assessed at the borough's average of $342,904.

The Borough Council adopted the $17 million municipal budget earlier this month.

Amendments in the budget, which were approved that evening, brought the tax increase down from $83.33, the original amount proposed last month.

"It was a reasonable, manageable increase," said Woodland Park Mayor Keith Kazmark.

Two revenue sources were added to the budget, including a reimbursement from the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission.

The sewerage commission will reimburse the borough $22,000 in overpayments made in 2015. Last year, the commission began providing waste disposal services to North Bergen but inadvertently did not charge the municipality for the services. …
