Sale Star 'Had Alcohol on His Breath after Taxi Collision'

SALE Sharks star Danny Cipriani had 'glazed-over eyes' and alcohol on his breath after crashing his Mercedes into a taxi, magistrates heard.

The rugby player's car was driven 'very fast' and was 'swerving and swinging' around the road before it struck a silver Toyota Prius, which had tried to get out of the way, it was said.

Following the crash, Cipriani accused the taxi driver of hitting his car.

But London's Westminster magistrates court heard that the player had been drinking and could not stand up straight or speak properly.

The cabbie, Muhammad Qasim, said he suffered injuries to his neck, shoulder and lower back in the crash on Imperial Road in Fulham, west London, at 5.15am on June 1 last year.

Cipriani, who has agreed a move from Sale to Wasps at the end of the season, denies drink-driving. …
