West Bus Routes Get Big Changes

The third phase of the Port Authority's Transit Development Plan has meant significant changes on several West bus routes.

For example, the 28X Airport Flyer now picks up and discharges passengers inbound, picking up only outbound on the West Busway.

In other changes that started Sept. 5:

* Route G1 West Busway-All Stops -- This has been renamed G1 West Busway-Robinson. The route operates between the Mall at Robinson and Downtown via the West Busway between the Bell and Sheraden stations. It makes all stops in both directions.

* Route G2 West Busway-Oakland -- It serves all West Busway stops between the Carnegie and Sheraden stations. This restores direct service between Carnegie and Oakland. It stops at all stations and in both directions on the West Busway. In Oakland, the G2 continues down Fifth Avenue to Downtown using the Boulevard of the Allies, Crosstown and Seventh Avenue Ramp.

* Route 25A -- This route has been changed to 25 Moon and operates between the Mall at Robinson and Groveton at Village Drive and Lewis Avenue. Service has been discontinued into Cherrington Corporate Center, RIDC Park West and the Target parking lot.

* Routes 26A, 26D -- The routes have been combined and renamed 26 Chartiers. Buses operate between Downtown and the Crafton-Ingram Shopping Center along West Carson Street, Steuben Street, Allendale Street, Chartiers Avenue, Ladoga Street, Berry Street, Ingram Avenue and Foster Street. Service has been discontinued to Windgap and the 26A segment beyond Berry. Service between the Crafton West Busway station and the Crafton-Ingram Shopping Center is provided by Route 32 Campbells Run.

* 26B -- This route has changed to 27 Fairywood and operates between Downtown and the Crafton-Ingram Shopping Center on West Carson, Steuben Street, Middletown Road, Ladoga, Faronia Street, Windgap Avenue and Broadhead-Fording Road. …
