WHEN Inspiral Carpets reformed in 2011 without their most famous singer Tom Hingley at the front, the band's unhappy marriage was revealed in interviews and books.

Hingley, who was with the band from 1989, was replaced by the guy he replaced - original singer Steve Holt - when Inspiral Carpets went back on the road in 2011. And ever since, we've wondered why Hingley hasn't formed his own version of one of Madchester's most commercially successful bands. Well now he has - or at least, a tribute band to them called... The Kar-Pets.

Hingley is back in pole position as singer, Philip McKinytre on guitar, Ste Pearce on bass, Malcolm Law on drums, and Dickon Kyme- Wright in place of Clint Boon on Farfisa organ.

They're lined up to play at Ruby Lounge, on High Street, on April 21 and will be performing songs from the band's three decades of bona fide anthems: This Is How It Feels, Dragging Me Down, and Saturn Five among the songs promised. …
