Regarding "My Patients Deserve Better" (April 14 Perspectives): It seems that most of the arguments against a woman's right to choose what is best for her reproductive health are centered around God, faith and religion. I doubt there could be a better argument in support of Audrey Lance's wonderful opinion piece, based on medical facts, and why God, faith and religion should have no say in determining any woman's health care choices than the article I recently read in The Guardian (online), "Letting Them Die: Parents Refuse Medical Help for Children in the Name of Christ."

The article, by Jason Wilson, documents that the estimated child mortality rate for members of the Followers of Christ, a Christian religious sect that practices faith healing, between 2002 and 2011 was 10 times that of Idaho as a whole.

The article also featured a young woman who suffers from pulmonary hypertension, which could have been prevented with a simple procedure when she was an infant. …
