A YOUNG woman who tried to stop an attack outside a pub was punched so hard she went blind in one eye.

The 23-year-old had rushed to help a man as he was being beaten by two thugs close to the Goose Green Club, on Little Lane, in Wigan.

The Good Samaritan tried to intervene with her boyfriend, 25, after they saw the man being assaulted just before midnight on Saturday, April 9. When her partner walked towards the trio and shouted at the attackers to stop, he was set upon. The two attackers started to punch him and when his girlfriend shouted at them to stop she was also punched in the face so hard she fell to the ground.

The two men made off in the direction of the club while the other man - who was initially being attacked - also ran off.

When the couple attended hospital,the woman underwent surgery on her left eye, but she has now permanently lost sight in it. …
