Last Wednesday, three government employees in Michigan were arraigned on multiple charges in connection with the Flint water crisis. Mike Glasgow, Stephen Busch and Mike Prysby are the first, but shouldn't be the last, to be held accountable for switching Flint's water supply from Lake Huron to the Flint River to save money two years ago.

Michigan's Attorney General Bill Schuette has vowed to prosecute all those responsible for exposing residents to contamination caused by heavy concentrations of lead. The untreated water from the Flint River proved too corrosive for the city's iron and lead pipes.

We now know that lead from the pipes had already begun leaching into the drinking water almost immediately. The predominantly African-American residents of Flint complained, only to be told by officials that the water was safe - though that was not the case. …
