(Here are some City League football facts and figures heading into the 2003 season.)

Defending champ -- Perry defeated Brashear, 43-0, at Heinz Field for the 2002 title. That was the Commodores' 11th consecutive shutout in a streak that would reach 13. Perry (13-1) lost to Hopewell, 20-3, in the PIAA AAA semifinals.

Dynasty -- Perry has won three City League championships in a row and five of the last six.

Number of City League teams -- There are 10: Perry, Brashear, Peabody, Schenley, South, Westinghouse, Langley, Oliver, Allderdice and Carrick.
