Beyonce's 'Lemonade' Has Local Connections

Since the drop on Saturday of Beyonce's "Lemonade," the Twitterverse has been abuzz with the identity of "Becky with the good hair" and why she's getting the blame for the alleged infidelity and not Jay-Z.

We'll steer clear of that and let you know that "Lemonade" has two big Pittsburgh connections.

The opening song on the album, "Pray You Catch Me," was written by Beyonce and James Blake with Kevin Garrett, who has the lead credit and also co-produced. The 25-year-old Garrett, who sings, plays guitar, keyboards and violin, grew up in Point Breeze as a neighbor and friend of rapper Mac Miller. He moved to New York about five years ago to study music technology at New York University. There, he also played in the indie-folk band Noble Hunter. …
