Amazon to Open 2 More N.J. Sites

Amazon.com said Wednesday that it plans to open two more fulfillment centers in the state, expanding its New Jersey workforce from 5,500 to 7,500 in its continuing drive to offer fast deliveries.

The new sites will be in Florence in Burlington County and Carteret in Middlesex County. Amazon already has a distribution center in Carteret, as well as locations in Robbinsville, Logan Township, Woodbridge and Moonachie.

"This expansion in New Jersey is directly tied to our increasing customer demand," said Akash Chauhan, Amazon's vice president of North America fulfillment operations. A spokeswoman for the state Economic Development Authority said that Amazon did not receive tax incentives for the new sites.

As more consumers shop online and expect deliveries within a day or two, Amazon has ramped up the number of warehouses and distribution centers in densely populated areas such as New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. …
