1891 British Pursue Manipuris

LONDON Advices from Simla today [April 28] state that General Collett telegraphs from the camp at Sengmai that letters have been received there from Manipur, stating that the Regent Jubraj and Senaputti fled to the mountains on the 26th and that the inhabitants will offer no opposition to the British. A large fire has been seen, and the report of an explosion heard in the direction of the capital. The Silchar column has utterly routed the enemy near Bishenpur. On the morning of the 25th General Graham discovered 1,000 of the enemy who occupied some earthworks surrounded by a marsh. …
