PREP FOOTBALL ; It's about Time: MSAC Moves Kickoffs Up to 7

Teams in the Mountain State Athletic Conference have decided to join growing portions of the state and move up kickoffs of their home football games to 7 p.m. Fred Aldridge, commissioner of the MSAC, said the switch was made at the league's most recent meeting and will be used for the coming season.

Previously, all MSAC teams - and most schools in southern West Virginia - kicked off games at 7:30.

"It just happened," Aldridge said. "One of our principals brought [the topic] to the floor, and we got into a discussion about the pros and cons for about 20 minutes, and they said yes."

Last season, 30 of the state's 108 football-playing schools listed their starting times as 7 p.m., with most teams in the Eastern and Northern Panhandles having already implemented the earlier kickoffs for several years. …
