Struggling switch-hitter Carlos Beltran, catcher Brian McCann and shortstop Didi Gregorius were not included in manager Joe Girardi's starting lineup Sunday night. "I tried to get as many right-handed hitters in there," Girardi said of facing left-handed Boston starter David Price.

Right-handed hitters Austin Romine (0-for-2, 2 strikeouts) and Ronald Torreyes (1-for-3) subbed for McCann and Gregorius, while switch-hitting outfielder Aaron Hicks (0-for-3) made his first start since April 22, when he jammed his left shoulder diving for a fly ball.

Though Beltran doubled in his last at-bat Saturday, the 39-year- old outfielder was in a 5-for-34 slide (.147) with no RBI since April 20.

Beltran had started in the Yankees' previous 18 games. "I just felt he could use a day. …
