The Place: Pittsburgh Opera Headquarters, Strip District, Saturday night.

The Purpose: To celebrate the 11th annual fundraiser "Let Them Eat Cake" for the Midwife Center for Birth & Women's Health.

The Party: The evening began with cocktails by Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails, hors d'oeuvres by Yes We Cater and beer from the Beehive. Katie O'Malley emceed and board vice president Lisa Stauffer welcomed all. Guests bid on silent auction items and voted on their favorite cakes during the cake tasting. They also voted on the most artistic cakes. The theme was rock 'n' roll. There was the "Millie Vanillie" cake, the "Strawberry Fields Forever" cake and the "Rock-a-Bye Your Baby," cake to name a few. The cakes by professional and amateur bakers were also evaluated by a panel of judges who spent the cocktail reception tasting and note taking.
