ORONATION Street star Alison King is hoping to go out in a blaze of glory at her last British Soap Awards.

CThe popular actress, who has played Corrie favourite Carla Connor for 10 years, has been shortlisted to win Best Actress at the awards in London on May 28, which will be screened on ITV1 the following evening.

Alison, 43, whose character is preparing to marry Nick Tilsley, is leaving the show to pursue other projects this month. Her last scenes will be broadcast during the week of Monday, May 23.

Carla has been at the centre of the action on the soap, including the gripping Tina McIntyre murder storyline after shopping her killer brother Rob to the police on his wedding day to Tracy Barlow.

Meanwhile, Corrie is hoping to snatch the Best Soap gong from EastEnders and Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Plat, is up for Best Actor. …
