Illinois beat Missouri 6-4 Tuesday night at GCS Ballpark in Sauget as Mizzou's bullpen gave up all six Illinois runs after starter Grant Macciocchi faced the minimum nine batters in three perfect innings for the Tigers (24-22).

In the fourth, Illinois' Jack Yalowitz and Pat McInerney tagged reliever Brian Sharp (2-2) for solo home runs in a four-run inning for the Illini (22-19).

Ryan Howard had two of Missouri's six hits, including a first- inning home run, and Zach Lavy tripled in two runs in the eighth. Illinois starter Andrew Mamlic (4-6) gave up two runs in seven innings with seven strikeouts. (Dave Matter)

SLU's Hendrickson gets 800th coaching win * St. Louis University baseball coach Darin Hendrickson picked up his 800th coaching win as the Billikens (20-25) won 12-8 over Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau. Hendrickson is 800-408-1 with 149 wins at Fontbonne, 155 at Forrest Park CC, 209 at Central Missouri and 287 with SLU. (From news services)

Nadal, Murray advance * Rafael Nadal easily defeated Andrey Kuznetsov 6-3, 6-3 to reach the third round of the Madrid Masters, while Andy Murray advanced after a hard-fought 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 win over 37-year-old Radek Stepanek.

Nadal broke Kuznetsov's serve once in the first set and twice in the second to secure the win in his opening match at a clay-court tournament that he has won twice in the last three seasons.

The Spaniard had four aces and no double faults against the 39th- ranked Russian to win his 11th consecutive match this year in 1 hour, 18 minutes.

Nadal will next face either American Sam Querrey or Frenchman Lucas Pouille, who play their match Wednesday.
