Wine Finds: Try Malbec, Two Ways

Fans of Argentina's robust malbec wines enjoy their complex fruit flavors, black pepper spice and earthiness. But all wines containing malbec may not have these characteristics. For example in France, malbec is used as a blending grape in Bordeaux, where it plays a subordinate role to cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot. But in Pays d'Oc, along France's southern Mediterranean coast, malbec is sometimes used to make lighter-bodied, young fresh wines. Below are two examples from opposite ends of the spectrum.
