Clinton Has 2-1 Edge over Sanders in N.J., Poll Shows

Hillary Clinton may have been upset by Bernie Sanders in Indiana this week, but a new poll released Wednesday shows she is comfortably ahead in New Jersey.

Among likely Democrats, Clinton leads the Vermont senator 60 percent to 32 percent. That would make Clinton's lead over Sanders three times as large as one in a Rutgers-Eagleton Poll released April 18, which had Clinton ahead 51 percent to 42 percent.

The size of a victory matters in the Democratic Party because the state's 142 delegates will be awarded in proportion to the vote each candidate gets in the June 7 primary. Including superdelegates, who are not elected in primaries, Clinton needs only 181 delegates to secure the nomination, while Sanders needs 983, according to The Associated Press. After an upset win in Indiana on Tuesday, Sanders' campaign said he will continue to fight and is hoping to persuade superdelegates to change their stances before the convention. …
