- JAMES have never been a band with much time for nostalgia, so don't expect their homecoming at Manchester Arena to be a trip down memory lane.

The current line up of seven of frontman Tim Booth, bassist Jim Glennie, guitarists Larry Gott and Saul Davies, drummer, David Baynton-Power, keyboard player (and current star songwriter) Mark Hunter, and trumpet player Andy Diagram have been together since 1989 (minus a six year break in the early Noughties) and in that time have released 12 of their albums.

It's a work ethic that makes them unapologetically forward looking. "La Petite Mort (in 2014) did change things for us," says Jim, "it opened doors for us and shoved us back into people's lives. …
