SALE FC player-head coach Jonathan Keep insists his side always remained confident of staying up, despite their rotten run-in of fixtures.

With four games to go, Sale looked all-but relegated form National League Two North, as the loss to Chester and Sandal's win left them in the relegation zone, and needing a minor miracle.

And that is just what they got - three wins on the bounce against some of the league's best sides in Stourbridge, Macclesfield and Caldy ensured Sale were safe.

"Even after we lost at Chester, which is game we targeted as one we had to win, we definitely still thought without doubt that we could do it," he said.

"Just knowing the sides we still had to play and where they were up to as well with their league campaign. …
