Bishop Elementary Principal May Not Know Fate for 20 Days

Another 20 days could pass before the fate of Bishop Elementary principal Amanda Czechanski is clear.

On Friday, Czechanski submitted her request for a closed-door meeting with the Topeka Board of Education concerning their resolution to dismiss her.

The school board must hold the meeting within 10 days. At the meeting, board members will present the reasons for not renewing her contract and Czechanski will be allowed to respond. No attorneys will be present.

Afterward, the board has 10 days to consider the matter and finalize a decision, which will occur through a vote held in public session.

The board voted unanimously on Thursday to move forward with the dismissal process against Czechanski, who has been principal of Bishop since 2008 and last summer was named principal of Jardine Elementary School. …
