A YOUNG Hollyoaks actress who plays a teen with cancer will take on this summer's Great Manchester Run in aid of The Christie Hospital.

Kassius Nelson was inspired to raise money for the charity by her soap character Jade Albright's battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma.

The heart-wrenching storyline is about Jade and boyfriend Alfie Nightingale, who both discover they have cancer.

Kassius, 18, from North London, will be running alongside 1,500 Team Christie fundraisers in the Morrison's Great Manchester Run on Sunday, May 22.

Kassius said: "It has been quite emotional on set going through some of the scenes for Jade and Alfie. Having spent time with cancer patients we have a good understanding of what our characters are going through.

"The Christie is an amazing place, giving hope and support to so many cancer patients and their families. …
