Paterson Man Is Third to Take Plea in Fatal 2013 Shooting

A Paterson man pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of reckless manslaughter for the role he played in a street fight three years ago that ended with the shooting death of a city man.

Kendry Lopez could receive a prison term as long as five years when he is sentenced this summer.

Lopez admitted in Superior Court in Paterson that he was involved in a dispute with 52-year-old Raphael Robles on July 5, 2013. After the argument, he said he met with two other men and all three went to a home on 16th Avenue to confront Robles. Gunfire broke out in that encounter, and Robles was fatally shot by one of the men who was with Lopez.

Passaic County prosecutors said Lopez was arguing that night with his girlfriend, and Robles -- who was a relative of the girlfriend - - began arguing with Lopez.

Lopez then left and recruited two men -- Larry Deprospo of Woodland Park and Jerrod Archer of Paterson -- to help him confront Robles, prosecutors said. …
