APPRECIATION RECEPTION

Darrah Bagley, who started volunteering for Meals On Wheels when she was 66 -- 26 years ago -- was one of 300 volunteers who were honored for their service during a reception April 25 at the Van Wezel.

"The thing about volunteering for Meals on Wheels that sets it apart from other volunteer organizations is that the meals being prepared, packaged or delivered may well be the only meal their client is eating that day and the volunteer may be the only person her or she sees," executive director Marjorie Broughton said.

Volunteers with 10 or more years of service were recognized with gifts. Volunteers with 21-years-plus service include Darrah Bagley, Gene Bradley, Becky Carlin, Betty Shimet, Dee Dee Curran, Ian Sharp, Earl Buell, Connie Buell, Sally Scott, Jan Steber, Joe Thiel, Peggy Hart, Nicole Duke, Michael Duke, Gloria Lowe, and Jo Poling. …
