MANAGER Lee Sinnott admitted Altrincham 'shot themselves in the foot' after a shock 3-1 home defeat by struggling FC Halifax Town on Tuesday night.

Damian Reeves' second goal in successive games should have been the springboard for a third straight Alty win.

But Jordan Burrow restored the visitors' advantage moments later, with a carbon copy of his first-half opener, and Kingsley James converted a stoppagetime penalty for Halifax, who were thumped 7-1 by Cheltenham at the weekend.

"I had to reinforce the message of what I wanted at half-time," said Sinnott. "I thought we were delivering and having a good spell of play when we shot ourselves in the foot.

"You could sense, after our equaliser, we wanted to expand the play, stretch them and have a go, but then we gave the ball away again in a position that set them up to catch us out of position. …
