THOUGH Ian Henderson's return to action as a second-half substitute against Wigan on Saturday was a welcome sight, it was a bittersweet one for Keith Hill.

The Dale chief has seen too many important players hindered by injury and spells on the sidelines this season and acknowledges it's had an effect on the team's momentum.

"It was important for Calvin (Andrew) and Ian to get game time. We seem to be catching up all the time with players, with respect to performances and injuries," said Hill.

"There's a lot of time spent not training and we've not got the players that we need up to speed. I'm dealing with inconsistencies match to match in terms of individuals.

"We tried to put a team together to compete with Wigan and for large parts of the game after the first 20 minutes I thought we did okay. …
