POLICE arrested three suspects following a dramatic 60mph citycentre chase.

Officers spotted a stolen Mercedes when it turned from the M60 onto the A5103 Princess Parkway at around noon yesterday.

A 'stinger' device was thrown across its path but the car managed to speed away despite bursting two tyres.

Police say the vehicle had been stolen in a burglary in Macclesfield and had false number plates.

It drove off at speeds of between 50mph and 60mph towards Manchester city centre, pursued by traffic police.

The chase continued on Medlock Street and the car was found later abandoned on Hulme Street near the Mancunian Way in the city centre.

Three occupants were seen running off on foot but were detained nearby.

One of them suffered a leg injury when he was intercepted by a police dog.

Two others were arrested by officers on foot. …
