Flooding Victims to Receive Pounds 500 Emergency Payment. ; Salford Homeowners Offered Cash to Help Clean Up, While Parking Attendants Are Branded'heartless'

HO M E O W N E R S affected by the Boxing Day floods in Salford are being offered emergency cash to help them with the clean-up.

Dozens of properties were left damaged after unprecedented rainfall saw the River Irwell burst its banks on Saturday.

Salford council has now set up a fund to provide quick payments to victims as they look to get back on their feet.

They say each household which was flooded during the deluge on Boxing Day and Sunday can claim up to Pounds 500 in relief.

The scheme is similar to the one launched by Rochdale council earlier this week after the town was also badly hit by the flash floods.

Residents simply need to fill in a form which can be downloaded from the council's website. Identifi-cation is also required.

A rest and advice centre for those forced out of their homes remains in place at the Beacon Centre where people can get hold of emergency supplies such as cleaning equipment. …
