OH, Gary. Some day, we always knew you'd be writing your own musicals. It makes perfect sense, after all; he has been the musical powerhouse behind Take That for decades, isn't it logical that he'd be able to turn his hand to writing theatre sing-alongs? So, here we find him starting a different kind of creative career with The Girls, his musical adaptation of the story of Tim Firth's 2003 filmscript, The Calendar Girls - a true tale of the plucky Yorkshire Women's Institute members who stripped off for a charity calendar in aid of leukaemia research (following the death of group member Angela Baker's husband, John, from Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 1998), covering their cheeky bits with cakes and carefully arranged flowers.

It's with Firth that Barlow has developed this tale to another level, and together they've apparently penned a book of songs that already threaten to become anthems - in particular his appropriately hymnalsounding track, Yorkshire.
