AVID ATTENBOROUGH might be pushing 90 years old, but that doesn't seem to have slowed him down in any way.

DJust when you think retirement might beckon, there he is in his Crocs, up to his ankles in seawater in some far flung country, watching a little shark go about its business.

And in this concluding episode, he embarks on one of his most ambitious missions yet - the deepest dive ever attempted on the Great Barrier Reef.

Ok, so he doesn't put on a wetsuit and jump in with his mask, flippers and an oxygen tank (well, would you?).

He actually dives 1,000ft from the relative comfort of a submersible, but we're fairly sure he deserves a few mod cons these days.

And actually, as you watch him descend in what looks like a giant fishbowl, you'll feel an overwhelming urge to breathe deeply.

If he was panicking, he didn't show it, simply saying rather ominously in that calm voice: "We are descending into the twilight zone. …
