Defender: There's No Pressure on Latics

OLDHAM Athletic defender Daniel Lafferty insists his side don't feel intimidated by their current relegation battle.

Latics are in 22nd place in the League One table, five points adrift from safety following their 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday.

John Sheridan set his team a target of winning nine games when he took over as boss earlier this month, and Lafferty is confident that they can achieve that.

"I don't think anybody in the dressing room feels pressure. We all know what we have to do," he said.

"We have to go out and put on good performances, get wins and get points on the board to climb the table.

"It's all down to me and the lads in the dressing room to get us out of this position and if the manager says we need to win nine games from 20 matches then that's what we will have to do."

Lafferty is currently on loan at Latics from Championship side Burnley, alongside Cameron Dummigan. …
