LEIGH Centurions bounced back from their disappointing opening day defeat to give Neil Jukes his first win as head coach, as they ran out 48-18 winners at home to Oldham Roughyeds.

Lee Smith marked his debut with a try and two goals for the hosts, with Adam Higson running in for a hat-trick of tries himself.

Adam Higson crossed for a brace with Jonathan Pownall, FuiFui MoiMoi and Reni Maitua also getting their names on the score sheet, as Martyn Ridyard added four conversions.

It has been a tough start for newcomers Oldham as they faced their second full-time opponent in as many weeks, with Tom Ashton, Adam Clay and Lewis Palfrey crossing for the Roughyeds.

Palfrey picked up two goals and Clay added a conversion of his own as they managed to break the deadlock this time out, following last week's 22-0 defeat to London Broncos. …
