CIRQUE du Soleil is returning to Manchester with its spectacular show Amaluna. The world-renowned Canadian circus troupe will be pitching up its grand chapiteau next to the intu Trafford Centre later this year.

The announcement comes after its run at London's Royal Albert Hall, where it made its UK premiere, drew to a close yesterday. The performance, loosely based on Shakespeare's The Tempest, will take audiences on a magical journey to a mysterious island governed by goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon.

In the wake of a storm caused by their queen, Prospera, a group of young men lands on the island, triggering an epic, emotional story of love between Prospera's daughter and a brave young suitor.
