THE blossoming food and drink hub King Street has revealed plans for its first full blown festival - and it sounds like a corker.

During the King Street Festival the entire city-centre street will be transformed into a bank holiday paradise - filled with food, drink, beauty, music and freebies over the May Bank Holiday, May 28 - 30.

Across the weekend, bank holiday revellers can play lawn games such as croquet and badminton on the pop-up English garden, while food fans can enjoy free prosecco and canapes.

The King Street Festival bandstand will provide the soundtrack to the weekend, with performances from an eclectic range of musicians and bands including jazz and swing from Young Pilgrims, 1940s style band Bobbysocks, raucous folk and jazz band, The Rubber Duck Orchestra, DJ Thom Docking and cello duo, Cupid's Bow There was a time when King Street was described as ailing, neglected and run down, with around one third of shops empty in 2013. …
