LVG Says De Gea Is Happy - and Expects Him to Stay

UNITED manager Louis van Gaal expects David de Gea to stay at the club next season, despite the uncertainty surrounding his own future at the club.

De Gea's move to Real Madrid in last year's summer transfer window collapsed at the 11th hour over the 10-time European champions' issue with a fax machine and the Spaniard inked a new four-year contract with United weeks later.

Van Gaal mentioned the United No.1's transfer saga at United's Player of the Year awards earlier this month, where De Gea was voted the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year for a record third successive season, but the Dutchman is confident the goalkeeper will remain in Manchester beyond the summer.

"It was written that it was inevitable that he would go to Real in 2016," Van Gaal said. …
