THE long awaited Oasis documentary has a name and a release date.

Supersonic - by Mat Whitecross, the man behind docudrama The Road To Guantanamo and Stone Roses movie Spike Island - is named after the band's debut single and will hit cinemas in October, released by Lorton Distribution.

The feature-length film will document the rise and rise of Oasis from the moment Liam Gallagher let his big brother Noel join the band in 1991.

As well as looking back at some of the moments from their younger years that influenced their path into music, Supersonic will chart their three-year journey to the top of the charts and the moment they sold out two nights at Knebworth Park - playing to half-a- million fans.

The filmmakers - who also include Academy Award-winning producers James Gay Rees and Asif Kapadia (the team behind Amy Winehouse documentary AMY), alongside Fiona Neilson and Simon Halfon - have been given unprecedented access to the band. …
