Unity of Kanawha Valley to Host Garden Party

Unity of Kanawha Valley will be home to a garden party outdoors in the parking lot, with a hot dog sale inside, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 21. The garden party will include workshops to educate the community about agriculture and encourage homeowners to take an interest in providing pollinator habitats in the Kanawha Valley.

Saturday's workshop schedule:

" "Weed & Pest Control, John Porter, West Virginia University Extension Service, 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

" "Rain Barrel Installation, 12:30-1:15 p.m.

" "Junior Master Gardeners, Jenny Totten, West Virginia State University, 1-2 p.m.

" "Pollinator Gardens (outdoor workshop), 1:30-2:15 p.m.

" "Making Seed Starters, 2:30-3:15 p.m.

Additionally, West Virginia Department of Agriculture representatives will have informational brochures, cookbooks and coloring books to distribute. …
