MARCUS Rashford was schooled for United goalscoring success by a former Crewe Alexandra poacher.

The Wythenshawe-born youngster has been the big success story of the Reds' troubled season.

But former United coach Paul McGuinness has laughed off the idea that Rashford is an overnight sensation. The Reds identified him as future firstteamer while he was part of the youth set-up and coach Colin Little - the former Crewe hitman who also had a prolific non- league career with Hyde and Altrincham - was tasked with polishing the rough diamond.

McGuinness, who left United after 24 years earlier this year, said: "He needed to work specifically with Colin on his finishing, his movement, receiving the ball chest forward rather than with his back to goal. …
