Man Found Dead Suffered Gunshot Wound | Deputies Reported No 'Obvious Signs of Trauma' but Medical Examiner Found Bullet

DEATH INVESTIGATION

SARASOTA COUNTY -- A 48-year-old man found dead in his front yard Monday morning died as the result of a gunshot wound, Sarasota County Sheriff's officials announced Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies found David A. Morris, of 2445 47th St., lying in his front yard around 10 a.m. Monday, after he had been found unresponsive by one of his roommates.

The responding deputy noted in their report that they found no "obvious signs of trauma."

On Thursday, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kaitlyn Johnston announced that Morse had been killed by a single bullet.

"When we arrived on the scene, the gunshot wound was not readily obvious," Johnston said. "When he was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office, the gunshot wound was discovered. I am not at liberty to say where the gunshot wound was located. …
