Homicide Suspect Bolts from Cops' Car

PATERSON -- Detectives arrested a 33-year-old Paterson man wanted on murder charges in Atlanta, after having captured him a second time following his escape from a moving car, police said.

Chrishon Siders, also known as "Soulless," was walking near his home on Mercer Street late Sunday morning when three detectives driving through the area saw and pursued him.

Detective Sgt. Steve Iacuzzo and Detectives Benny Ramos and Jason English apprehended Siders, police said, but had to capture him again after he escaped from handcuffs and jumped out of the back seat of a moving unmarked police vehicle, said Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez.

Police believe Siders may have been carrying a handcuff key and used it to free himself, the captain said. After escaping from the car, Siders ran south on Mercer and was captured in the backyard of a home, police said. Rodriguez said Siders assaulted the officers when they caught him in the yard.

Also arrested was the suspect's girlfriend, 31-year-old Tanisha Balmer, who allegedly tried to hide a handgun when they came to question her at the apartment she shares with Siders. …
